Nowra Bowling Club Review
Accessibility, Facilities, and Dining Experience

Nowra Bowling Club is a welcoming venue known for its friendly staff who are always ready to assist. The club aims to support everyone in the community, including those with additional needs, but some aspects of its accessibility and facilities could benefit from improvement.

Accessibility

The club features automatic doors at the entrance, making it easier for wheelchair users to enter. There is also a designated disabled toilet; however, it is located within the standard male and female restrooms. The accessible cubicle is notably small, making it difficult—if not impossible—for wheelchair users to manoeuvre inside. As such, the current disabled toilet does not adequately meet accessibility standards and is in need of significant upgrades, particularly the doorway, which is too narrow for wheelchairs.

Facilities

A small car park serves the club, but finding a disabled parking spot can be challenging, sometimes requiring guests to find street parking. While this is not ideal, those determined can eventually find a spot. Improvements to both the car park size and clearer accessible parking options would be beneficial.

Dining Experience

Upon entering the club, patrons will find a Chinese restaurant with a somewhat narrow, but generally navigable, doorway. The restaurant offers a wide range of Chinese and Australian dishes. Prices are reasonable, with meals costing $15 for members and $17 for non-members. Popular options include curried prawns, honey chicken, and garlic chicken, among other favourites. The club also offers special food events, such as pizza days, which occur on certain days, like Sundays, featuring additional dining options.

Overall Experience

Despite the shortcomings in disability access and parking, the food quality at Nowra Bowling Club stands out as a highlight. The club consistently delivers excellent meals, which keeps many patrons coming back. The restaurant staff are particularly noted for their friendliness and helpfulness, making the overall dining experience enjoyable.

Based on accessibility challenges and the limited car park, the club earns a rating of three out of five stars. Nevertheless, for those seeking good food and welcoming service, Nowra Bowling Club remains a pleasant local choice.
